You can now use “Visa Touch” to pay bus fare on Nagano – Hakuba and Nagano – Nozawa Onsen bus lines!

Starting from December 22, 2021, you can now use your Visa Touch, a contactless payment service, to pay bus fares on Alpico Kotsu’s express buses, namely Nagano-Hakuba line ane Nagano-Nozawa Onsen line.

How to use Visa Touch

When boarding the bus, please tap either your Visa’s contactless chip card (credit, debit or prepaid) or payment-enabled mobile over a contactless-enabled payment terminal at the front of the bus. By using a contactless payment, you don’t need to have a physical contact with a driver and it is safe, quick and convenient!

Visa Touch is a contactless payment utilizes the global standard in secure authentication technology and is available in 200 countries and regions worldwide, including Japan. Users simply tap their card on a reader at the cash register to make fast and secure payments without signatures or PIN numbers.

This service is now available on more than 450 transportation facilities worldwide, including in Singpore and London, and this number is expected to increase even more in the future. At the moment (September of 2021), there are already 57 million Visa contactless cards issued, and more than 1 million card readers in Japan. Now, there are 14 prefectures (including Nagano) that has already implemented this service on public transports and other facilities.
