Nagano is a monzen machi (temple town) of Zenkoji with a history of more than 1300 years, it is also a business district that has the prefectural government. Nagano is a big tourist city where the past and present live together.
Nagano is ideal for both visiting and living because it has numerous commercial facilities, specialty restaurants, unique cafés and various types of accommodations.
(Nagano - Togakushi)
Togakushi Shrine stands quietly in the deep forest of Mt. Togakushi.
There are specialty soba-noodle stores and other shops near Chusha (middle shrine) where you can go by bus.
The trail to Okusha (the back shrine) is a 2km hike.
(Nagano - Zenkoji)
You can take a modern bus as well as a retro-style bus “Binzuru-go”. The route from the Nagano station to Zenkoji is a 10-minute ride.
There are numerous commercial facilities around the Nagano station, and small unique shops around Zenkoji.
