Having a tea-colored hot spring and a clear-water hot spring, Suhaku was given a name that means ""Two springs, red and white"". With beautiful Lake Suwa, right in front of it, the hotel offers a spectacular view of the Lake Suwa from its open-air baths. The entire hotel is barrier-free, offering handicapped accessible rooms and baths that can be reserved.

These room offering a sweeping view of Lake Suwa both from inside the room and out on the terrace. Why not sit down on the chairs on the terrace, relax and while enjoying the season. (Renovated in 2014)

Japanese-style room with a semi-open air hot spring bath

This is the only room at Suhaku with a hot spring bath. The bath draws water directly from the “Shu no Izumi” (“Vermilion Spring”) with its distinctive brown water. In the Kami-Suwa Hot Spring only Suhaku has access to this spring head. In this private space, you can enjoy the hot spring whenever you want to. The room was newly constructed in 2014 and was refurbished in 2016 when the bath was made larger.

Japanese Rooms

These are the most standard rooms Japanese rooms at Suhaku. There are 20 of these rooms in all. The sizes of the rooms range from 12 to 14 tatami mats, so guests can book rooms according to the size of their group.

Dinner is prepared using many local ingredients. You can enjoy meals that make the most of the abundant nature in Nagano, using such ingredients as A5 rank Shinshu premium beef, Shinshu salmon and char fish.
In preparing the Japanese breakfasts, our chefs focus on using local ingredients to create food that is good for our guests and will help them maintain good health. With warm hand-made tofu, Miso soup made with Shinshu Miso, fresh eggs from farms on Yatsugatake and freshly fried wakasagi fish from Lake Suwa, this is breakfast of a kind only available in Nagano.

The dining area where breakfast and dinner are served, called Myosaian, has views over Lake Suwa which you can enjoy while eating.
We also have separate banquet rooms for the use of groups of guests.

Open-air baths with superb views
Suhaku is the only inn at Kamisuwa-Onsen that has two hot spring sources within the hotel grounds. There is the Shu no Yu (‘Vermillion Water’) hot spring which is very warming for your body, and the more standard Shiro no Yu (‘White Water’) hot spring which is kind to your skin and will make it smooth. You can enjoy time in these hot spring baths while looking out at Lake Suwa.

The shop has a range of local specialities that can only be bought in Suwa such as wakasagi fish, sugared quince, Lake Suwa beans etc. It also has a range of cute accessories and many other products only available in this area. The shop is able to make duty free sales.

Tea Shop. Opening hours: 8:00 to 22:00
The Tea Shop ‘Shizuka’ is in the front section of the lobby. It can also be used for coffee, so please enjoy a cup of our delicious coffee. You can also try ‘Cheesecake Entremets’, which is very well known in the local area.
Many other products only available in this area are for sale.

Two sightseeing boats, ‘Swan’ and ‘Starmine’, make trips round Lake Suwa starting from the boarding area in front of Suhaku every day from 1 April to 30 November. From around the middle of September to around March, it is possible to go fishing for wakasagi, a seasonal tradition in Lake Suwa.
