IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT—————————
Due to the damage to Tagawa bridge caused by heavy rainfalls during 2021/8/14-15, the train service between Matsumoto station and Nagisa station is suspended until further notice. Until the train resume its normal service, train replacement bus services will operate between Matsumoto station and Nagisa station.
For those travelling to Kamikochi/Shirahone Onsen/Norikura from Matsumoto, please board a train replacement shuttle bus from Matsumoto station (Alps exit) and get off at Nagisa station, then change to a train bound for Shin-Shimashima station. Conversely, when travelling back to Matsumoto, please get off the train at Nagisa station and change to a bus bound for Matsumoto station.

(※) = The bus that departs from Shin-Shimashima station at 12:50, 14:10, and 15;30 is bound for Norikura. Please get off at K-20 Sawando Bus Terminal, then transfer to a shuttle bus to Kamikochi. You can check the bus timetable from Sawando to Kamikochi here.
(R) = Reserved bus. The direct buses that depart from Matsumoto bus terminal at 5:30 and 10:15 (aka National Park Liner) are reserved buses. You can reserve and buy the tickets online via JapanBusOnline.com or at the Matsumoto bus terminal.
(NR) = Non-reserved bus. Please buy a one-way ticket at the ticket window of the Matsumoto Bus Terminal or at JR Matsumoto Station.
NOTES:
・When you get off midway at Taisho Pond, your ticket becomes invalid for the rest of the journey. The bus ride from Taisho Pond to the Kamikochi Bus Terminal costs 430 JPY. However, those who have a return ticket may board the bus again (without extra charge).
・Extra buses will be added during busy periods, still there are chances that you might not be able to board the bus.

(R) = Reserved bus. From 17 April 2020, all buses departing from Kamikochi to Shin-Shimashima, Matsumoto Norikura Kogen and Shirahone Onsen will require a reservation.
How to Reserve
・Reservations can be made at the ticket window of the Kamikochi Bus Terminal and online via JapanBusOnline.com.
・When making a reservation, please specify at which bus stop you want to board/alight. (Boarding is also possible from K-28 Taisho Pond and K-29 Imperial Hotel)
・For those who reserved online, please show your printed E-ticket or the E-ticket on your smartphone to the bus driver when boarding.
Reservation Period
・Reservations can be made from 1 month in advance to 15 minutes before the bus is scheduled to depart from the Kamikochi Bus Terminal at either the Kamikochi Bus Terminal or online via the reservation website.
・In case the bus departs in less than 15 minutes, we will let you board the bus if there are seats available.
Reservation Changes
・Reservations can be changed until 15 minutes before the bus is scheduled to depart from the Kamikochi Bus Terminal.
・For reservations made via JapanBusOnline.com, you can make changes to the reservation yourself on the reservation website.
・For reservations made at the ticket window of the Kamikochi Bus Terminal, please go to the ticket window to make any changes.
Bus Pass Holders
・For those who have a bus pass (2-Day Free Passport, 4-Day Alps WIDE Free Passport, Alps Crossing Ticket (Kamikochi route)) and want to board the bus from Kamikochi to Shin-Shimashima, Norikura Kogen and Shirahone Onsen, please make a reservation by showing your bus pass at the ticket window of the Kamikochi Bus Terminal and specifying your boarding date, boarding place and which bus you would like to board. (Because the area is covered by the bus passes, there is no extra charge).
Numbered Tickets and Discounted Return Tickets
・For returning buses from Kamikochi, we have done away with the numbered tickets and discounted return ticket and introduced a reservation system.
